I really looked forward for school holidays so that I can train Jayden to be diaperless (and also so that i can wake up late :P). Since he only attend sch in the morning and comes home at 1130am, it's very hard for me to train him to go diaperless cos once he is at home he will eat his lunch, bath and straight to sleep with diaper on so that he can sleep longer. So since its sch hols, it means that I will see him 24 hours and it will be easier for me to train him.
Both me and my niece keep asking him "Jayden do you want to go shee shee?" like every 10 to 15 minutes. Sometimes he would tell us "I want go shee shee!" and wait for us to run with him to the toilet (cos when he says he need to go means HE REALLY NEED TO GO IMMEDIATELY!) or he'll run to the toilet and pee on the floor with his pants on :S
So tik tok tik tok and finally he can tell us without fail he needs to go to the loo but it must be an immediate thinggy. He still doesn't know how to "tahan" his urine. So that day (forgot when) we decided to bring him to Tesco without any diapers on ( darn confident!) Before leaving our house, we brought him to the toilet and also made him pee in the potty in the car before going into Tesco. So we though we're so safe.
Nope.
While shopping in the ketchup aisle, suddenly he said "I WANT SHEE SHEE!"
Oh man.. I was so damn worried. HOW? HOW????
HOW???
EMERGENCY!!!!
HOW???
Options:
1. Let him pee in his pants and change his pants.
2. Grab him and run to the fish section and let him pee in the sink. (No Way!!)
Nope didn't do both. I did option 3.
I quickly grab the plastic bag that Jayden was holding and quickly pulled him to one side and pulled his pants down. (And... I was carrying Justin in my arms. Where was Big C? He was standing right behind Jayden and stood there looking at us. He said the day before, we're laughing at this maid using a coke bottle for the boy to pee and today we kena.. so he said he was blank and couldn't think of anything!) I gotto do everything with one available hand!
Yes.. so Jayden peed in the plastic bag with his head down.
And make it worst passerby went like "HEY GOOD IDEA! Eh you see they used plastic bag to ....blablabla"
And Jayden? He was so so so shy keep puting his head down.
I know.. very very malufying moment for all of us. but.... but its emergency! No toilet nearby and definitely cannot make it on time to the toilet downstairs.....
So what happened after that was.. now he would tell us in advance that he needs to go to the toilet and he can even "tahan" his poo or pee if we're in the car. So maybe the malufying moment did taught him how to tell earlier and also "tahan" himself. And of course, I learnt my lesson too - don't laugh at people if they use coke bottle for the kiddo to pee. Karma ah.....

Good idea with the plastic bag but what if it bocor ah? hehehehe
ReplyDeleteMy experience was, luckly i was holding some paper cup from the food sampling session. Let son urine in it but his urine won't stop and dang, they overflow. after that have to do balancing act all the way to the dustbin with a trail of urine.Haih....
ReplyDeleteLucky you had the bag with you, if not die lor. It's normal lar. We used to bring an empty mineral bottle when we went for a bus trip (no toilet) to Singapore for Brae to pee. It worked! As for Shay, she peed once on her car seat during our dinner trip...kena scolded and piak piak kau kau from daddykhong..now smart edi..no more shee shee in the car :). Sometimes must get them to feel malu a bit then they will learn..the hard way.
ReplyDeletemy sis kena once like u...she used the bun's plastic that she just bought for her daughter! quickly bite the bun and let her sun shee shee inside the plastic.
ReplyDelete:-) Oh, nothing to be malu about.....every parent with a child SHOULD understand!!
ReplyDeleteI would have done the same too, or use the plastic bags provided by Tesco for groceries, or use my own water tumbler! Lesson learnt hor - never go out without a diaper in your bag.... or a small bottle in your handbag haha!
ReplyDeleteBTW, where's the Japanese Garden?
yes, karma can come biting you back in the ass. heheheheeeee
ReplyDeletedang, i'm so not looking forward to fully-potty-training gibran. lazy mummy i am. i think u did great! malufying or not, u did good!
i'm gonna take mummykhong's suggestion on bringing an empty mineral water bottle ;) but... what if we get girls next time, eh..?
Everything happens for a reason. Yes.. quite embarassing but since you don't know these people, boh chap la. The good good thing about this whole episode is really about Jayden. And I'm sure Big C will be more responsive now when it comes to Justin's next time. :D
ReplyDeleteLuckily u hv plastic bag. but ho... next time during "emergency" he will look for plastic bag too. My Yang like that loh... emergency - trap in traffic jam, i used mineral water bottle. So when he saw any mineralwater bottle in the car he will ask for wee wee. so...
ReplyDeletein kuantan during the weekends, in the car suddenly korkor wanna poopoo. since he just changed into his fresh cloth diaper, i do not want him to mess it up (cannot throw but got to bring them back mah...) luckily there are plastic bags for maid to throw out. so he sit and poo into the plastic bag...d whole car so smelly man...
ReplyDeletewe used a lot of plastic bags for jo too during those days when we trained him to be diaperless, it's a good idea at least we didn't need to run him to toilet during shopping time.
ReplyDeletealways curry a empty bottle in the car or in the hand bag :P
ReplyDeletelucky we all have BOY can shee shee anyway , I still do it with my older boy when there no toilet I ask them to wee in the bush :P I look out for them hhahaha
well fast move for u to let Jayden wee in the plastic bag :)
sasha, we always use plastic bag for shan leo since he was diaper-less. it is so convenient! we always carry plastic bags in our handbag for him. but now, we will bring him to the toilet unless it is an emergency, and the plastic bag will be really handy!
ReplyDeletefor boys, it's easy to use plastic bags. for girls susah. I take my girl for shee shee every time before leaving house & arriving at destination and every 20 minutes or so, I'll ask. Initially it's back breaking but after a while, they'll control better and tell you. Always keep a potty for 'big business' in standby in car. Jayden's learning and will improve in time.
ReplyDeletehahahaha.....some REAL good came out of that!
ReplyDeleteGood you had a plastic bag...
All parents will understand!
Hahaha. Oh gosh. I better not laugh.
ReplyDeleteMy turn soon. Now trying to train him to shee-shee every now & then. Hope to train him to be diaperless before he goes to playschool in Jan. Oh ya, shd have a potty in the car too .. cool.
ReplyDeletehaha...SOS... next time bring more plastic bags when going out.. haha.. kids, kids.. i have lots of experiences with them when they were young... haha...
ReplyDeleteoh..what we do is carry spare diapers and if ashley wants to pee e.g like in the car and no toilet nearby, we strap on a diaper on her and ask her to pee in it....
ReplyDeleteI thot using plastic bag is a norm? Maybe uncommon for ppl who're not exposed to kids. :) Well, more importantly something good came out of it.

ReplyDeletewalaoeh, scary man. but good thing jayden learnt from it! :)
ReplyDeleteeh woman..that's very normal lar!! even at 5-6 yrs old, my boys still wee in plastic bag/plastic bottle whenever we r in emergency situation like these, it's the benefit of having the 'birdie'!! sorry princess can't do that lar...
ReplyDeletethose day, when we sampai supermarket only, first thing is to grab a few plastic bag fr d veggies section & keep in the trolley for emergency usage, grin!!
Good idea with the plastic bag. I still caryy a maamy poko pants so that can quickly put on when he needs to wee wee, especially when in the car.But.. there have been accidents. Slowly learn lo...
ReplyDeleteo.Oh.. shall take all the advices here for future use when my son gets a little older for potty training.. if not sure dunno lari go where in times of emergencies like these. =)
ReplyDeleteTough isn't it when they want to wee in the supermarket? Luckily hubby is always on hand to race him to the toilet.
ReplyDeleteIf we're outdoors, Lucas will request to, "Pee in the bushes!" LOL
i personally think that its easier for boys to pee anywhere at anytime as compare to girls n i have never tot of plastic bags t all... its a good idea
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me how my sis told me before, they trap in the lift of a small buiding and so happen my nephew want to pee, so pee in the milk bottle...
ReplyDeleteUse plastic rather than his pants get wet right... i'd do the same also if I have no option...
