Are you still designing?

Yeah, sometimes. But lately I really have no mood to draw at all. Cos I am so busy with my sewing monster and also the time spent on designing is really too long for one project and I need to do so many research for it and still people think "not from template wan ah?"

Anyway, I am still doing it realllllllyyy sloowwwwwwly. Only when I am taking a break from sewing then I will stare at my Mac and draw. Recently I have finished 2 projects. First, was a brochure for My Cheeky Boo.

Bonnie's a great customer to work with and purple is one of my fav colour. So its much easier for me to work on her brochure. Check out her site now cos she is having some same going on there!

The next one was the follow up from my Poot Poot Car Header. Shir Lin finally found the pic that she like and send it over to me. My duty was to basically chop the head, crop it nicely and animate it. Voila!



Shir Lin is also a great customer to work with and since it's my as-it-is header, It's much easier to work with :)


Thanks y'all for your support and your trust in my work. But I think I should take a break from designing and wait until Mr.Lingkum (inspiration) to come along then I'll zap my mouse out and start drawing again :)

What I have been doing lately

Been sewing like mad to fulfill orders.....

Remember I sew an Elmo Pillow for Jayden when he was about 1 yr plus?

Still with his pacifier then...

Well, he's been using it since then and trust me.. they have a reason why they call it ChauChau Or Busuk (smelly). We've been washing it and as long as he can touch the sewing on the elmo is fine. So one day while playing with titi, titi accidently tore the pillow.


So I thought hey, he only wants to touch the sewing, why not sew one more for him?

So while he's away in school I have been snipping and sewing it with someone constantly disturbing me.



And when I gave it to him, he said "Where is MY elmo Pillow? The YELLOW one". So i bluffed him and said "Oh Spoil edi. So i throw it away". And he cried and refused to even touch the blue one. He even protested and refused to sleep on the bed during nap time. I found him sleeping on the sofa. *shake head*



So how? I sew the torn areas back for him and his elmo pillow look like frankenstein pillow with stiches here and there. But he love it. What to do ? I asked him "So next time when you go dating with Paris, you will bring this pillow for her to smell?" He said Y-E-S!


So what happened to the blue elmo pillow?

Yeah, anything that you don't want, pass it to the smaller one. hehe (so bad!)

So One day.. Jayden came to me and said "Mami can you sew this?" I turned around and i laughed out loud.

Jayden Jayden.. your mami can sew but she cannot make magic. How to sew the torn undie, samo so big hole leh?

Copy And Paste

I was quite down because i was thinking about my current problem. Too much to do with too little time. Between kids and my designing. I gave up my job to be with my kids but I spent too much time on designing till I have no time to be with them. Many thought that designing is very easy, afterall its copy and paste work. (you think?) and I always get the feedback that my charges is expensive. Tell you story hor.. when ppl see i post in fb , they will write "I want I want!" When I reply with my fees, POOF! And some asked me for free design.....I digress to bitch further.

I got my name card printed but sadly the day I received it was my day that I decided to let go of everything. Designing, blogging, sewing just to focus 100% on my kids.But part of me is very sad cos I love designing but I told myself I am not that good anyway. I never studied design and I don't have the time to learn more. Then i received an email from my customer from australia. She said

Sasha, thank you so much for your work, they have been great!

It made me realize how much I miss designing just for a day. I then went to her website and saw my logo LIVE.

And the welcome sign

And I thought to myself, I cannot give up everything. Not designing. I may not be damn good, but I can be better than what I am today if I never give up and continue to practise. And I told myself, whoever that wanna bully me cos I am not a design graduate and because i am stay at home mum, I got no time for you, ok? If you think that designing is all about copy and paste, why not you copy and paste yourself?

Another Happy Customer

Little Hyppo's mum wanted a new header for her blog and she gave me a "free hand" to design. So I told her I can only design when the lingum (inspiration) come to visit me. I asked for a pic and she gave me and after a few days.... sur-denly today I got the urge to draw and tadaaaa....



Little Hyppo's mum is very humble and "cincai" person. She told me she wanted an ordinary header. But I think she looks better when she give you guys a wink. What do you think?

Header: Montessorimum

I used to read Montessorimum when she was blogging under the name "clumsy wife, careless mom". And then she changed her nick to montessorimum. What a pleasant surprise when she emailed me and asked me to design a header for her blog. She said she wanted something similar that I have done before for shoppingmum. Wah.... when I heard she wanted a .gif header I got worried 'cos it involves alot of different layers and alot of plucking of different drawings from illustrator and sticking it into photoshop. But I agreed and I thought about it for days....putting ideas in the air and thinking what to do layers by layers. And yesterday, I just said "Okay, let's get to work!" And by end of the day I sent this to her....



She wrote back and said her kids love it. In fact my kids love to see the butterfly flying and they kept poking my mac screen! haha So yeap, another header being sold.

Montessorimum, thanks for the business and opportunity. I hope you like your new header!

Why u so busy?

I know.... I know.. i never update my blog for sucha long time.

I know... i Know.. I never blog hop and leave comments. Sorry. No time.

I was busy.

And also my own career.

What??? I have one? I thought I am a SILAI? Housewife?

Oh....yes......... I am a freelance designer and a Stay At Home mom which makes me a Work at Home mom. Sometimes a MAM (monster at home) or BAMH ( b**** at home).

So what was my latest project? It was a leftlet for an online shop called Modern Carino. Ling wrote to me once asking me to design her website but I no nothing about website designing. So I gotto let it go but she came back asking me to design her business leaflet. Ah.... just what I need to pick me up from being depressed and let me find back my skill!

After many rounds of emails and communicating via msn, finally.....



I love it. She love it. What else we need? right? Then she asked "Can you do my name card too?" Well of course maam!

So altogether she hired me to design a leaflet and also her name card (speaking of which,... i sendiri also no name card yet.muahahhaha) Becos of her generousity.. i gave her a pressie. A blinkie for her online site.



P/S: I must highlight that I didn't draw the mom and kid. It was a file provided by Ling from her previous designer. So don't go CHEHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH other things in the leaflet also nice ma..right? right? hehe

Anyway, do visit the shop cos they are having sale right not for the cloth diaper and also pads!

Wanted to take a pic of the sling I have sewn for "Someone" and also crash test it before I send it out. Who else is available to be my guinea pig besides him?

Some of you guys might not know that I am a graphic designer. Catalogues, brochures, posters, yada yada whatever that is printed, I do it. I am an inhouse designer for one of the pet supplies company (dog + cat foods, pet care - shampoos, grooming stuff, vits and so on) So yes my work requires me to stare at dog and cat most of the time. But I am hoping to go freelance ( VERY SOON!) so I am getting my portfolio website ready. And because of some good friends, I have started to accept freelance work. One of my latest customer is Mom's Little Treasure Box.

Mom2Ashley&Aidan wanted a logo for her Online Jewellery Business and we chatted over msn and Tadaaa....

Matching earrings.

I love it. I used to think green bead looks like Jade and jade is so old fashion. But the more I look at it, the more I am loving it.

Nothing is ready for cny

Except the pillows...yes yes.. i sew them. Nice or not?


Only one model to pose for me. The other one ran when he saw the camera.


This one also tried to run but we overpowered him.. so he gave in. Muahhahah



I have not started on cny shopping cos:
1. our house is still in a mess. Just after renovation.
2. We're going somewhere before cny. So hopefully we can shop there. Otherwise when we come home and if there's nuthing, we can still do some last minute shopping in the mall.

In the mean time, gotto work and finish up before we leave.

Sasha Sew: Cupcake Bag

Mom2Ashley&Aidan msged me and told me that she need a bag for her daughter. Immediately I remembered the cupcake fabric I asked Mott to help me buy from Australia. And I sent a another fabric pic for her to choose.

And her daughter chose the lil cuppies with pink lining. Mom2Ashley&Aidan gave me the measurement and I began to draw the measurement and how it might look like after I have finished sewing.


And here is the final product.(She also posted it in her shopping blog here)



The lil pocket that she requested. She is so brilliant, she asked for this pocket so she can use the bag in both ways. Reversible!

And I slot in some surprise supposedly for the mom. But I got the wrong measurement! So lil missy is extremely happy now cos even her toy handphone has a cupcake cover!

When I feel Useless

Some ppl bake a cake to feel better. Some go for manicure. Some sleep... for me I go and sew.

Been feeling feeling down. Felt like I'm totally useless. So to pick myself up, I took out my sewing machine and ransacked my cloth container. Found a cloth that Mott helped me to buy from Australia and began to sew and I did this.

Reversible mini handbag. Use it during lunch, marketing in mkt or pasar malam.

So now the question is, use it myself or sell it?

Few days ago I went to wake them up cos they slept till 7 pm and still sleeping. And i saw this...



Cos I kept telling Jayden "Jayden you take care of titi okay? Don't let him run away..." I guess by putting the leg like that then he know titi is near him. Hehe

Ah so quiet when they are asleep....

A tutu for myself

I was in the mood to sew last weekend. So I snipped and sew this:



Well, doesn't look much like a tutu. More of a can-can if you ask me. But its reversible pink and purple. Eh, I have always wanted this as a kid but I never got one. I used plastic bags to make my own tutu :P And I had this Barbie Doll I think its called Rapunzel or something la with the gown that can flip reverse it and it became another outfit. Fuuuwah Damn cool man....I wonder what happened to poor barbie doll. Anyway......


And then I had some left overs so I thought hey why not sew one for myself?? And I did!




I put on my tutu and took a picture of myself wearing it. Wanna see? Don't laugh hor?

Cos I sew for him, his favourite train t-shirt.



Toby is his favourite train. The longest among all his fav trains (Henry and Gordon). Look at poor Toby, patah here and koyak there. Since there's only Thomas T -shirt in the market and no Toby shirt, so I thought why not sew one for him. It's not perfectly sewn but he likes it. And that is what matters the most.

P/s: some of you asked if I bought the toby and iron/sew it on. No ler... toby not popular. So i gotto join a few pcs of felt and plain cloth for the different section of Toby body. Sew the face on white plain cloth. Used buttons for the train bumper and also the "DUUUT" on his forehead. The eyes are made using the "snap button". Here is the cacat sewing, closed up.

Finally, I sewed it!

I started sewing at 9pm last Sunday and finished around 11pm. The kids was still up and playing with their dad in the room. When Jayden saw the curtain he told me "Nice curtain mami.....". Yeah of course la.. it's Thomas and his friends design
