Buffet in my house

And its not for human.
It's for the termites in my house. See? My new flooring from Innovar.

Nice?

If your contractor comes and tell you that they treated the house with termite thinggy, please don't be so naive like "someone" and believe it. Especially when you cut and cut and cut the price.

One thing about Melamine flooring, yes its treated with termite solution ka you call it? But not the skirting eh? So they will attack the skirting of this melamine flooring. And because they will lay some foam in between the orginal flooring and the melamine floor, it gives the termite the opportunity to travel and wallop the entire house. What I just found out is that, they won't only wallop on one side. They wallop few places in the house at one go and when they finish the house they will meet and say HELLO!!! finish MAKAN! jom blah!

I didn't sleep in my own room for (very long time) cos I am accompanying Jayden to sleep in his own room. That day, I went and opened the window and I saw some dust on the floor. Then I went nearer and saw the entire skirting warpped. Then I got down and put my ears nearer and I heard some noise. And I tried to knock on the skirting..MY GOD! Only the top layer is attached and it was totally empty inside.

another view...

So here you go. Barely 4 months and one side all gone. The man said, wait for somemore dust to come out and we'll see where the rest are having thier buffet.

  6. aiyoh! how come u didnt notice? its really bad!
last time my bathroom wooden cabinet kena termites, we engaged NLC to put Centricon system, where it attracts termites to come to it the 'food' and bring back to the nest and give it to all the soldiers. the termites which come to eat are the workers, they will bring it back to the nest and vomit the food out for the soldiers and hopefully Queen to eat and kill all. it wasnt as bad as urs, but it took 3 mths to gau dim. then no more liao and i have the wooden cabinet replaced by fibre glass liao.
now i am scared as i have laminated wood flooring too, but not from innovar.

we had lamina floor the whole house but never see thing happen like this , hubby lyn the floor himself first time we use those form then we find is no good and expensive so he use some hard board is cheap to lyn on the bottom and top up with the lamina wood floor it make the floor very fit and no movement .
no hollow under too . may be you should ask the ppl to use hard board .
so sorry to heard this is horrible to have termite not easy kill it all .

  8. you better do your homework, don't rely on contractors. Forget abt treating the site, it doesn't work, need to chk the nest and destroy whole colony,it can be anywhere : outside, underneath house or from neighbour. good luck !

  9. Wood flooring is not a good idea anymore, I learn for the same lesson. Now I heard they have a plastic wood flooring. I wonder how termites gonna eat that!

It is treated wood but after 5 years, the chemical in the wood will be gone. Unless you purchase Pergo, life time warranty.

  15. Oh my...termites are v 'mah fan'. We had the problem b4 we moved in too and hopefully they're gone for good now. We engaged Rentokil and they drilled holes around the perimeter of the hse. They advised against Centricon cos we were renovating hse that time.

I watched documentary about termites, when you see any flying ants, gotta kill them all esp during rainy season, they love humidity.. they put a bucket of water under the light outside the house.. for some reason they'll drown themselves into it... I suggest you seek other pro, it might be nibbling the structure of the house as the skirting board is already gone...

I guess my housing area probably has this problem too coz i see there is many many holes around the whole house, must be the previous owner engaged with these so call professional to kill the unwanted animal.

a few months ago we treated our house with orange oil. Our house is built with wood with stucco exterior. the orange oil is supposed to be the natural way to kill the termite without chemical. the ppl drill holes on the studs where they find termites and then squirt/pump the oil into the hole, if it didn't come back out, means the oil is getting into the termite's tunnel and goin in. the cost is about the same as the traditional tenting but save us trouble of moving in and out the house for a few days.

i never thought that termite is a problem in MY until i read some posts abou the problems. the house there made of bricks mar, so very hard to eat through, but then the termites there go attacked the door and other wood area of the house. so marfun when it comes with termite. hope you will be able to get rid of them soon.
