Ikan Bakar in Lombok
This was one of our meal while we're in Lombok. Along the beach you can find Ikan Bakar, Ikan Bakar, Ikan Bakar... and.. hmmm let me see... More ikan Bakar.
There were no place to wash our hands, no table. Nothing.
BUT... the ikan bakar man will provide mat for us (if we order) and no cutleries. You eat with your hands and you can wash your hands using the natural water a.k.a the sea water *lol*
However this was the best Ikan Bakar I have tasted. The sauce is super nice. My first time eating BBQ-ed Brinjal and dash with sambal belacan. My first time eating kangkung + taugeh + Coconut (!!) with sambal.
And when the wind blows, our meal was peppered with sand. *lol*
But it was Oh•So•Nice!
If you're traveling to Lombok, must try the Ikan Bakar ya, But which stall is nice, I don't know :P

Ninja Joe's Sumo rice set
My kids love Ninja Joe's burger
So when I'm not cooking, I'll ask them what they would like to eat and they will either choose Ninja Joe or Herbal Noodles in Taman Megah. But I myself usually will have a drink cos I've eaten too much and got bored of it edi. But this week I was surprised cos the they added new stuff on the menu. Sumo and also mantao set.
So I ordered the Sumo set with pork belly.
Came with a nice bowl and cover. Very nice presentation I can say.
It tasted something like the Chinese char siu but slightly sweeter.
I must say Rm10.90 for this is not too bad. I must try the Sumo pork chop rice next time.

Makan-Makan @ Ribs King 排骨皇
We went to Pai Kuat Wong in Seapark last last Sunday, (cos my mum and dad ditched us to be with their KungFu friends) after hearing Yenjai telling me that the food is not bad over there. We wanted something nice, fast and suitable for us and also our kids.
Jayden cannot eat without soup.
Justin dislike soup.
Big C dislike expensive food.
And I...just want to eat in peace.
And Yenjai is right. The food is not bad, the price is affordable and the ambiance is cosy and nice. We paid Rm24.80 inclusive of 3 sets of rice and also 3 drinks. Not bad eh?

This is what I had. Garlic BBQ Pork Chop, Veggies, Rice and Fried Egg on top.
This is what Big C had.
And this is what the kids had. They shared the portion and I gave them some of my food too.
And the set comes with soup @ Rm6.90. They gave us an extra bowl of soup since there's 4 of us. Hahaha
Overall, The staff is great.
The environment is cosy and nice.
Food is affordable and FAST.
And of course, we'll be back for our next visit soon.

Nancy Chong's All Time Favourite Butter Cake
I've heard and seen alot of reviews about her cake and I've been waiting for someone to bring it for me all the way from Ipoh but I'm always not in good luck. I was there yesterday in Ipoh and I told my husband, "let's call her up and see if she has extra or not". Unsure about whether she is opened during a public holiday, I tried my luck and called her. Voila! I got the last one!
Her house is just behind the Ipoh Specialist Hospital and when I got into her house, her entire house smells like butter. And her kitchen was a serious cake production site. No Joke. Cupcakes, huge butter cakes, icings were in the table. Didn't snap pic tho :D
Like many said, "It's old fashion but it taste heavenly". When I took my first bite, I was like OMG! its is really fluffy and nice. And the icing is super sweet but if you eat together with the cake , it is just perfect.
Finally, I know how Nancy Chong's butter cake taste like. And I achieved another target for this year - taste Nancy Chong Butter Cake. I have yet to achieve another target of mine which is - Bake a Cake that is edible and presentable as Bday Cake. Oh well... always can bring forward to another year since I am my own boss :P
1kg Butter Cake is Rm42 and if you would like to order from her, her addy is as per the pic above ;)

OnePot
I noticed that I hardly post makan-makan post anymore. Think maybe after Justin started to crawl then I stopped blogging about food edi. Probably hard to control 2 fellas while eating or probably we just stop going to nice/new place to try new food and go for the usual.
So anyway, last week (or is it last last week?) we went hunting for dinner that night and we ended up at this place : OnePot
Since the seats and tables are mounted to the wall and "someone" refused to sit on the baby high chair, he gotto squat and eat that night. haha Kids were happy cos they both got the "colour" of spoon, plate, bowl and cup of their choices and also watch youtube while eating. But mum and dad went home half full but luckily we can easily find supper :)
So anyway, last week (or is it last last week?) we went hunting for dinner that night and we ended up at this place : OnePot
It's located at the corner shoplot opposite McClient's Florist in SS2.
I think the sauce selection is similar to the one in 100degree.
This caught Jayden's attention. A touch screen built in pc with internet. He played angry birds and also watched youtube while eating. But the internet speed is su.....per.......se......low man. As long as can keep the kids occupied while we eat it's good enough.
Anyway, what is special about this onepot? They have steamboat with many different kinds of soup or you can choose to have paper grill. What is paper grill?
You put a piece of paper on the grill and cook your food without oil. I personally think its okay, but kinda troublesome cos as you cook, you gotto add bbq sauce to it, then the food get cook, then the sauce will kena the paper, then the paper will burn abit, then become darker and darker and then the waiter/waitress will come and change the paper. Then you re cook again..... and again. Not forgetting the staff is really helpful. They took turn to stand at our table and cook for us. *paiseh maxxxx*
We ordered the Rm29.90 package for the grill and add some corn soup (rm5 for a very big portion and free refill- YAY!) and noodles for my kids. The grill package came and my hub asked me "That's all for you and me ah???" I didn't have the chance to take pic of the grill package cos the staff came and started to cook for us. So I only took pic of the hand and how they cook . hehe Anyway, back to the package it's really small portion compared to the one we had in Pulau Ketam Steamboat or 100degree. So what to do? Drink alot of corn soup lor since it's free refill.

Makan @ William Mamak
Once in a while we will go back to our old housing area to eat at Williams. Where exactly is Williams? Taman Mayang Jaya in PJ. From far you can see that its just a mamak but have a seat and look at the price list and you will be shocked. Not only shocked at the price but also the variety of stuff they have at the road side stall. Didn't take a pic though cos I am sure there are many write upsa about this place in the blogsphere.
Anyway, he's Big C's fav. Turkey Ham Cabonara (Rm 15). The portion is huge and the boys had that for dinner. We also ordered some fishball from the stall next to it. Boys ma.. need more calories kan?
He also diam diam eat by himself..
This is my Turkey Ham Mozarella Nann (something like that la..) Rm 10 Maybe that day I wasn't in the mood to eat this so it was just so so for me.
And this is what we ordered for the entire family. Herb Soda. A mixture of Mint, Serai, Asam Boi, Longan and of course Soda (not sure its just plain soda or its Ice Cream Soda) and its Rm 7 for this babe.
One thing about Williams is that they are very generous in terms of the serving, they really use good quality of longans (btw... I used to work in a company that sell canned longan so I know which one is good :)). Normally we will order Ribena Ice blended with Longan. Fuiyoh drink that and yr brain also go freezeeeee.
And everyone's tummy is pau pau (full) at the end of the day.

Sasha Cook: Seaweed Roll
It's been a looong looong time since I have posted my masak masak here. It's always very pressuring to give some food to my neighbour cos her hub is very particular and fussy about food. So that day, I cooked extra and after everyone tried (maid + hub = guinea pigs) and said its "ok" then only I passed a plate to her. When she saw the plate, she said "Can I try one now ah?" She said "yummy" and "sasha I wanna learn this also. Good to serve when we have some guests over". Some of you might know this but what the heck, I already took some pictures. So why not post it here right? muaahaha

Rolled it too small, so you cannot really see the pattern nicely done. Better to roll it "fatter".
Very Simple dish. Preparation is longer than cooking time but if you plan it well, I think it's a sap sap suey dish, if you know what I mean.
Ingredients 1:
Egg curd Sheets ( go pasar and tell the taufu woman, she will know what to give you)
Japanese Seaweed
Ingredients 2:
Fish paste
Minced Meat (you like: pork/chicken/beef)
Water Chestnut, cut to small small cubes
Carrot ( cut small small cubes)
Ingredient 3:
Crab Sticks
Carrot
Aspagarus (didn't use this cos couldn't find it)
Seasoning:
Salt
Sugar
Pepper
Cornflour
Coating:
Egg
cornFlour
How to do it:
1. Mix fish paste + minced meat+ water chestnut cubs + carrot cubes + seasoning
2. Spread fish paste mixture onto the egg curd sheets.
3. Place seaweed sheets on the fish paste spread.
4. Another layer of fish faste.
5. Put carrot strip + asparagus + crab stick on edge and roll it like sushi roll.
6. secure and steam for 5mins.
7. Remove from wok and coat it with egg and cover it with cornflour and deep fry till golden brown.
8. Makan!

Durian Bomb
I seldom eat Durian cos Big C don't really like the smell in his car. And also he doesn't allow the kids to eat durian cos he said its too heaty for them. So the kids don't eat, the mom also don't get to eat. That day we passed by New Town (State in PJ) I asked him to drop me at Sri Karak Restaurant.

And i saw the banner.. wah Durian bomb!

This how the Durian Bomb looked like. It's Rm1.80 per this tiny ball. I'm telling ya.. It's worth it. Cos you can feel the durian swimming in your mouth when you pop it in.

And I also bought the tart. Also rm1.80.

Also very full with durian. Wah.... syiokalingam!
P/s: yeah la.. he stil complained about the smell in his car but too bad la. His wife need a durian fix that time!

Let's Go Makan BellyGood
Its been a while since I have posted about the places we went for makan-makan session. In fact we hardly go anywhere fancy or nice since the arrival of Justin and worst after the maid. Why eh? Cos it's pretty hard to have a nice decent meal with 2 kiddos constantly standing up on the baby chair. All you want to do is get stuffed, burp and go home. So last Saturday I told Big C, I think we should go for a nice dinner in this place called Bellygood. Seen a few reviews about it and since I have a coupon to get another dish for free, why not eh?
Parking is a problem here cos there are a few steamboat houses around this area so be prepared to walk abit!
We ordered the Mixed platter @ Rm23.90

and also the pulled pork burger @ rm12.90

and we got this for FREE - Grilled Herb Chicken

Not bad eh?
The kids already had their dinner at home. So we ordered only 3 dishes but the kids had their share too. Jayden only wants 100plus and fries and Justin eat just about anything and everything! he is like THE eating machine!

I enjoyed it too.It was one of the ribs that Justin didn't hijacked.

So how was it? The mix platter ribs was very soft and juicy. The chicken taste good but I'll forgo the pork burger. I find it smells funny but Big C said its okay.
The pics sucks, I know. Cos I used my Olympus digital camera instead of my dslr. But then if I were to use my dslr, no way I can eat properly and take pic at the same time. So its either pic-that-sucks or no picture.
So how did we get the free dish? I got it from the advert booklets that I normally throw away. Luckily I flipped and saw the coupon. Hehe They said that photostated coupons are accepted too. Maybe printed coupon from blog can be used too? Try and see? Maybe can?

With this coupon, the bill was Rm55.55 ngam ngam including GoV tax of 10% and Service charge. Imagine If we don't have the coupon... it could be *tit tit press calculator* no idea how much.
While I was getting out from the place, I noticed that there was a message written on the board about 48 hours early reservation entitle you to *something something* Don't know what la. Already eaten still wanna see meh! But for you guys that wanna go to this shop, better make reservation. Who knows you will get free desserts? You can even check the price (budget budget your meal) and also the map here.

Count Down: 19 days
Just went for check up and I lost weight again. And doctor asked me not to eat "so much". Can you believe it. hahahaha
Baby last weight was 2.6kgs. This week 3.2kgs. Plus/Minus, baby is 2.8kgs now. So she asked me not to eat so much, worried that baby got too big and then I can't go for natural delivery.
Since Big C is down with hfmd, if I were to deliver now, he can't go into the delivery room with me. *sigh* lonely-nya me in delivery room if baby decided to come now.
Doctor said "I see you in a week time (for checkup) or delivery ward okay?
So these 19 days onwards, I will be eating-whatever-I-need-to-eat-before-I-pop week. Today I bought,

Satay Kajang Hj Samuri. Not much ma....only 10. But I can only wallop 5, full edi. Wanna eat more also cannot.
Initially I bought a few stuff I was craving to eat last weekend. But since J was sick, I just ate whatever I bought with no feelings. Basically I was just swallowing my food and not tasting it also. This week, I wanna enjoy.

Frugal Lifestyle?
I was at home the other day and I though it's been a while since I have cooked dinner for my 2 Chans. So I went to the market, bought some stuff and I played masak masak that day. When I served everything on the table, I laughed so hard and I fastfast ( so long never use this word edi :P) took my camera and snap a pic of the dishes thinking that this pic will be a great pic for the tag about "frugal lifestyle" tagged by Lian many many moons ago. Big C came home and saw me standing on the dining chair, taking pic of the dishes and he asked me "What happened?". I told him I cannot help but laugh at it. First the dishes look like so kesian , and my cooking somehow sucked so badly! Even the fish also koyak here and there!

You say kesian or not? Look so pity right? Soup, Fried Eggs, Carrot+potato and pork, and lastly the fish.
When we ate dinner, I can imagine the fish saying...

Translation: Pity me..I have not even reached puberty yet..
You know why? The fish size was about my palm size. It's a baby size and it only costs me RM1.50. So when I was frying it, it koyaked so badly I gotto pick up the pieces and put it back in order. Muahahahhahaha
Definitely lost my cooking touch edi! Gotto practise more now...

My Mama Loves me Lot Lot!
I went home last weekend and my Mama told me "This two, I reserved for you"
Awwwwww My Mama Loves me lot lot!

Big or not? This is what I call organic. Home grown without pesticide and chemicals.
Then my sis went and check out the tree and she found this.

My mum missed this bunch and didn't get to trim the bad ones off. So it ended up growing smaller Jambu Airs compared to the one she gave me. But taste the same - juicy and sweet!
Can you guess how many Jambu Airs are there in this bunch?

Ahhhhhhhhh *shiver*
Did anyone hear me Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh-ing last night???
Nolah....not orgasming la!
I told you guys yesterday that I want to find one acar that will make me say AHHHHH and shiver shiver abit like the new Coke ad leh....forget edi?
Anyway, I found it.
Thanks to Michelle, I went and bought my acar when I was on my way home.
The shop/restaurant was just outside my housing area.
I found it in....KING CRAB! But I think not many will drop by to buy just acar only. I basically made everyone panic looking for a container to store the acar. hahaha And its cheap @ RM4.20 including the tax this and tax that. Ah Tuan Ee's costs me RM8.01 plus tax this and tax that. Same quantity.

Pic stolen from ipohwav3.wordpress.com.
Muahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahah
Okay, no more craving for acar edi. What to crave next leh?
(can see Big C's leg shaking edi. Don't worry la b. I promise I will crave for food that is easy to find k?)

The hunt is on!
I have been craving for Acar for few days now. Thanks to Misha's mom la.. she went and told me she is cooking acar on Monday. *sigh* made me drool and think of it for so many days and nights. So last night I went to Paramount to search for it. Both Misha and Tiger recommended the same stall but it only starts to operate at 5pm.
So after dinner last night, Big C drove me all the way to Paramount and it's not open! Dang! Yenjai mentioned before that there's also another stall nearby that sells acar. So I went and have a look. NO! NO ACAR!! Only some man selling satay! (by the way the satay look nice eh? But I was on a mission last night. So sorry satay, next craving ok?)
Big C grumbled and asked me why I need to eat acar so badly. Oi, you dunno what is craving meh? Of course I never say that to him la. I just said that *grumble grumble grumble grumble and grumble* and he stopped complaining and he brought me to pusing and pusing around Paramount and SS2 area and suddenly I thought of this place! Ah Tuan Ee's place in ss2. So we went and finally........ I GOT MY ACAR!!!!!!

I went home, snap a pic and took a bite. *sigh* Enuff said. *disappointed*
So, anyone know where to BUY nice acar in PJ area or not? I want nice one. I want with carrot, cucumber, long beans, cabbage and sesame seeds with peanut wan. Eat edi you will say Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and shake your body like the new Coke ad. How? Got ah?

How was it?
I better write something. Otherwise I will be so constipated like my blog!
So, how was your new year? Mine was *mumble mumble mumble mumble* like dat la. Long blablabla ahead. Maybe you want to skip and go straight to the pictures? :)
New years eve is always a headache for both of us (Big C and I) cos we wanna please everyone and make everyone happy.Big C wants to be with his side of the family and my mum still cannot accept the fact that I won't be around for new year's eve dinner after i got married. That's like 3 years already! Every year she will call and call and ask if I will be there or not. This year its the same old case again.
So to make everyone happy we hurried off to mum's before dinner. I ate some of her famous stew pork with abalone and sea cucumber *yum* and she asked again "Got big prawn lo...but u dun want to eat..*sigh*". Then stay abit later, she will say "wait a while la..sure u dun want to eat with us ah?" The feeling is like *sigh*......
So it's like 10 mins more...10 mins more... 10 mins more until my uncle's family came and we sat down. We ate some and hurried off. Everyone was just quiet when I left. Do you know the guilty feeling? *sigh*
So we hurried off to Chan's cousin, Loke's house for dinner in Subang. I was telling Big C how susah it is, every year also the same story. He replied "why you married chinese?" Yeah hor? Why marry a chinese leh? Both my sisters married non-chinese and they're there for every occasion. And during christmas we have extra celebration. Big C, good suggestion ah..next time when I get married I will keep that in mind :P. (choi, tai ka laii si!)

Ppl were already eating when we arrived. Reunion dinner never state that everyone must sit down and eat ah..they only say eat together. So can eat in living room, kitchen, outside the house and etc etc. So that's what we did la. Yee Sang was the last dish because my BIL came even later that day. Must wait for everyone to lou sang ma..
So here's the YeeSang, all the way from Ipoh.
And everyone did the Lou-ing thing. Spot the kid! He also sibuk-sibuk wanna lou!
Took this pic while standing on a chair. Yeah, too short so need to stand on a chair. But still too short!
Then Igot down and tried to take a low-shot, mana tau the lou-ing comes from the bottom also! They never kasi chance the yee sang, they wanna hantam the yeesang kau kau!

Noticed that they used a wok for the yeesang? 2-Mai mah, how to fit in to normal plate?
This is the first time Lil J ate YeeSang. Last year he rejected it. He likes the pok-pok-chui thinggy.
We went home early because everyone was like dead fish by end of the day. Moreover both Big C and I was working that day and I brought Lil J to my office. Lagi no rest *pull hair*. See la, if if I have the time I will blog about it.
And the lil one woke up the next day, in a very cheery mood.Rushed to the dining table, climb on it and searched for the pai-nien(visiting) stuff and handed it to me. He likes to say "here!"
I took some pics using my Olympus camera.
Last time I forgot to bring the cable for my Olympus. (Lazy wanna bring dslr)
Today, I remember to bring the cable but I forgot to bring the camera!
muahahahahahahhahah
So that's all la for today, if I remember to bring my camera AND my cable tomorrow then maybe you can see somemore pics in the next post la.

Amazing Race Holiday
We went to Bangkok to celebrate our 3rd Anniversary last week. And boy, it was like amazing race holiday. We're there for 3 days 2 nights, too short holiday but it was just right for us because Jayden was with us and not forgetting we have another 2 dogs at home, waiting for us to come home.
We flew to Bangkok on the 9th via Air Asia. We didn't take the express boarding pass so we gotto wait in long queue, LONG LONG queue cos it seems like its Bangkok season now? I don't know. We have no choice but to squeeze into the middle and window seat with a huge guy blocking our way in and out of the seat. J stayed awake the whole 2 hours flight, he liked the taking off experience and he said YAY! and clapped his hands.
We arrived at the new airport, of course new airport means higher Taxi Rate. There were signs indicating that we should not take the "illegal" taxi outside of the airport. But guess what? It cost you 1000 Baht to take the airport taxi and only 500plus Baht to take the taxi outside. So take or don't take the outiside taxi you tell me?
We stayed in Zenith Sukhumvit Hotel, the place where Arabians stay. Big C said he did a very bad research this time. But the room was okay, spacious and lots of room to roll around.

We drop of our luggages and started hunt for food. Since we stayed in Arabians Area, all food are seems to be not-so-suitable for us. So we stopped by this place (forgot what is the name) and had our first bite.
Jayden slept in the stroller although the roads are so bumpy and uneven. We went to walk around Paragon area and even went to MBK but we only had like 20 mins before the shops close.
Xmas deco was still around. Not much of CNY mood here. Look at this xmas tree.
all made out of recycle water container. Cool eh?
After that we took tuk tuk back to hotel.
It was damn hillarious looking back at this pic. Look at our faces! Jayden held both our hands in the beginning and he kept quiet. The tuk tuk sped like mad, went opposite road, zig zag, It was a crazy ride. But then my son got a lil brave and then he let go of our hands and clapped his hands and said YEAH! I think he can go on roller coaster ride soon.
One problem, we forgot to bring his elmo pillow. So we gotto let him play till he is all worn out then only he can sleep.
After the tuktuk, I decided not to bring my dslr out.
1, I am too lazy.
2, no time.
3, no hand to carry the extra bag.
4, Jayden was clingy
The next day, we went to Platinum.
The clothes = ALOT.
The price=CHEAP.
No need to bargain here cos its wholesale area. Big C was so nice to help me take care of Jayden while I kept asking "How much?" Muahahah Thanks B!
We drop by Isetan and we got Jayden's Bday pressie here. He went nuts just looking at it. Been bugging us to open it up everytime he sees the packaging!
We had tomyum everynight and each time J was asleep. Ah....dinner in peace :)
Check out my tomyum. 160Baht. Yummy!
And my shrimp rings, 100Baht!
No more tuktuk for 2nd night, we took taxi home. In Bangkok there's no such thing as METER TAXI. You need to really bargain. If you hate bargaining like me, just take the MRT/BTS la. Save saliva and more convinient. But travelling with a kid on a stroller is not easy. As most of the places is not stroller friendly. Luckily I have Big C to help me carry the stroller with J in it up and down the very high staircase.
Sat was like Amazing Race for us. Cos we went to drop by Chatuchak before we head home. The taxi driver asked us to help him "pretend" to go into the export centre and look-see for 15 min so that he can get a gasoline coupon and he will charge us very cheap price. And we end up spending more than 30 mins there waiting for my silver gold plated ring to be resized. :)
And then we went to Chatuchak and we had like 1 hour to shop. So, I headed straight to the shops (can remember roughly where are the shops cos I was there 2 yrs ago) and grab whatever I have planned to buy.
The custom checking in Bkk Airport = Very slow and crazy. So go to the airport more than 2 hours early before your flight. Otherwise you will be late. This time we bought the express boarding coupon.
I'm just so lazy to fight with the rest of the people. We got a comfy seat, 3rd from the front. And a seat for each of us. So Jayden can lie down and sleep.
And then we had our LUNCH at 3pm. RM8 Air Asia Nasi Lemak.
*sigh*....i miss my Tom Yum..
We got home at around 6pm. Took the Sentral Bus and the lil one enjoyed it so much. Dad and sis came to the Sentral Station to pick us up so that we can collect our car from my dad. Reached home, 11pm.
This trip we :
We went on AirPlane, Taxi, Tuk Tuk, MRT and Bus.
Walked like dunno how many kilometres.
Went into dunno how many stores.
Bought like dunno how many things.
Ate like dunno how many mangoes.
I lost count.
hahah
This trip was super fast, we walked super fast and shop super fast. Just like Amazing Race Holiday. But we all enjoy ourselves - being together :)
